The Gene Pool contains the names of 20 million U.S. residents within 5 million records. This information was collected by medical researchers using millions of individual records: birth, marriage and death records; obituaries; probate records; books of remembrance; family histories; genealogies; family group sheets; pedigree charts; and other sources. The medical researchers used this genealogical data for their study of human genetics and disease. This information was going to be discarded, but Mr. Edmund West knew the value in making this information available to genealogy researchers and he purchased this data. It is important to remember that the medical researchers did not include a "cited source" for their information because it was deemed unnecessary and too costly to do this. Afterall, they were medical researchers interested in genetics and disease, not genealogist, so citing the source of the individual information in their research study was not important to them. You should confirm this information with original sources to verify that this information is true.
