Shadrack Northcut

The following information was contributed by Linda Nader. She has no known relationship to Shadrack's family. This information was given to Linda's mother, Ila Handy Bombyk, in the early 1980s, by Donetta Northcutt of Port Orchard, WA. Donetta's husband Doug is a descendant of Jeptha L. Northcutt, b. 1884.  Attempts to contact Donetta have been unsuccessful. It is not known if she or her husband are still living. Please contact me or Linda if you have any information on descendants of this family or know how Shadrack is related to the other known Northcutt families.

Will Of Shadrack D. Northcutt

In the name of God Amen. I, Shadrack D. Northcut , have taken into consideration of the uncertainty of this present life, and being well stricken in my years, though of sound mind, yet feeble in body have thought my duty to make this my last will and testament in manner and form following (Viz)

It is my will that my just debts be first paid---I also will and bequeath to my beloved wife, all the money that may be on hand or out on interest, be it more or less, also my carriage horse and "Harnesses", together with all the personal property in or about the house on which we have a claim (Viz) Those beds and bedding in our bureau, eight chairs, one mantel clock, one gilded looking glass, one small Table with variety of Books & Maps, during her natural life, but after her decease what ever remains of the personal property shall be sold to the best advantage and when collected together with the money that is now or may be standing out. It is my will that it shall be divided amongst my heirs as follows (Viz) one equal share to Lydia Baker, one equal share to Elizabeth Owens if she is living, but if deceased it is not to descend to any of her children, for it is not my will that any of them shall have one dollar’s worth of estate, but her share in that case to be divided with my other heirs. One equal share which would have fell to my Daughter Margarett Kizer, deceased, I will to her son Perry Kizer but not to any of the rest of Michael Kizers heirs do I will anything. One equal share to be divided amongst my son Runyon’s heirs, viz, John, Emily & Edmond Northcut, one equal share to my son Willis Northcut. One equal share to my daughter Angelia Overhulser; as for my daughter Harriet Neese I think I have put enough in her hands and her husband’s without bequeathing them any more. As to my son Jeptha Northcut, he has received one hundred dollars on account of his share be it more or less for which I hold his receipt. I do also appoint my son, Jeptha Nortcut Executor to this my last Will and Testament. In consideration of which I have heretinto set my hand and seal this---day of July 11th in the years of our Lord 1850
